Youth Construction On-Site Supervisor

Overview

The Moricetown Band Economic Development Committee is revitalizing the RV Park and Campground this season and is in need of an on-site Supervisor for the youth labourers. The successful candidate should have construction knowledge and supervisory experience, especially with indigenous youth. Preference will be given to Witsuwit’en Band members. Wage will be commensurate with experience.

 

Duties

• Oversee youth construction work and supervise the youth in carrying out the work
• Schedule work and assign duties
• Provide leadership in work ethic
• Discipline and reward team members
• Provide hands on training and mentoring of youth in the various construction tasks
• Undertake carpentry, cement deconstruction, forming and pouring pads
• Perform landscaping, cutting grass, planting trees, shrubs and flowers and prune bushes
• Other duties as assigned

 

Skills

• Carpentry Level 2 and/or an equivalent of construction experience
• Supervisory experience with youth
• Strong team building, communication, relationship building, and motivational skills
• Knowledge of cement work, forming, and concrete de-construction
• Landscaping knowledge
• Knowledge of the Witsuwit’en culture is considered an asset
